First, intimidation is an effective means to suppress the voice of opponents.

If necessary, step up and use terror: this works by paralyzing opposition.

if you dig to be eaten,

At the entry of doubt and hesitance / the sound of metal joints / was in glaring contrast / to the empty space.

Bij het binnenkomen van aarzeling en van twijfel / klonken de gewrichten van metaal / in schril contrast tot de lege ruimte.

Once buildings start to crumble / and walls start to tumble / then true beauty is revealed. // One must seek for a second / and split structures into basic elements. // This brings us to insight” (Oppenheimer contemplating about The Big One).

An empty prison comes in place / where glue runs past a stone’s cast. // No, people, / that is not for understanding / that is for nót understanding / where we stand without ground / under our feet.

Een leeg gevang komt te staan / waar lijm voorbij een steenworp holt. // Neen mensen: dat is niet om te begrijpen / dat is om níet te begrijpen / waar we staan zonder grond / onder onze voeten is.

The Oil Terminal at Dissension

After one village a second was build // and as so often / these contained two communities / with different beliefs. // After peevishness came quarrel / and this raised high: a full five meters. // The arrival of the oil-terminal / changed little apart from more fencing. // The bridge does not unite the inhabitants / but enables them to dwell on different paths.

De Olieterminal bij Tweespalt

Na één dorp werd een tweede gebouwd / en als zo vaak, / waren het twee gemeentes in het geloof. // Na wrevel kwam ruzie / en die liep hoog op en wel vijf meter. // De komst van de olieterminal veranderde weinig / behalve nog meer heining. // De brug verenigt geen bewoners, / maar maakt dat de wegen gescheiden voortgaan.

Hey, you:

Is it true you read, this, and the next

words and written thoughts, wrought

by sleeplessness, insomnia and sorrow.

Since this rotten world is consumed by

maggots, some with guns, the others

driven by envy, none silenced by having

to sit behind a Triumph, a Remington,

(mine is an Erika from the GDR) but

shouting on X, like crazy birds.

Who has control over the red button,

that will stop nonsense and sense alike,

in one sudden instance.

Aye, the worst dreams came true

arriving both from the east and west,

their messages driving holes like tubes

drawn by bullets in grey matter:  cheese

it  has become, infected by the craziness

of bulls – they must be bulls – that

disguised themselves as double burgers with

mayonnaise.

Now my cramped fingers find the words

silence and peace and know these must

differ from sleep without dreams.

It was a day like many others

When my camera invited me

For a walk across the city…

Picnic table

Het was een dag als vele andere

dat mijn camera me riep voor

een wandeling door de stad.

And in particular, for

the transition of a canal connecting

Amsterdam with the river Rhine.

Vleutense spoorbrug / Railway bridge at Vleuten

En in het bijzonder, voor

de overgang over een kanaal

dat Amsterdam verbind met de Rijn.

A bridge is physical, bold and curved

And with bolts as supporting elements

Een brug is fysiek, met durf en curve

En met bouten als ondersteunende elementen.

The goal is reached.

Als er een nummer in zicht komt

Is het doel bereikt.

I don’t believe in anything anymore.

it wasn’t a fall / not a gradual disappearance / 

but a sudden realization.

there was not a thing / at checking the map “belief”

that’s how simple it can be:

no memory either / and the back-up / was also empty.

this won’t work, I concluded / and decided to go cycling

niets geloof ik meer.

het was geen val, geen / geleidelijke verdwijning /

maar een plotse vaststelling.

er bleek niets te zijn / bij het raadplegen /

van de map “geloof”.

zo simpel kan het zijn: / geen herinnering ook / 

en de back-up was / eveneens leeg.

dan maar niet, dacht ik / en besloot een eindje

te gaan fietsen.

Expositie grafische kunstvormen door Academiegroep KunstenHuis Idea Zeist

Modiveres, linosnede, Drager Meurtant, 2021

Kom kennismaken met de veelzijdigheid van de grafische kunst, een beeldende kunstvorm waarbij gebruik gemaakt wordt van verschillende druktechnieken zoals etsen, houtsnede, monoprint, lithografie en meer. De artistieke mogelijkheden van dit medium zijn eindeloos: van abstract tot figuratief, in zwart-wit of juist met veel kleur en van briefkaart- tot posterformaat. Zo heeft deze kunstzinnige verbeelding een kenmerkende uitstraling die eigen is aan het drukproces.

Vanouds worden grafische kunstvormen benut om de kunst toegankelijker te maken voor een breed publiek, van jong tot oud. De mogelijkheid om één beeld in grotere oplage te vervaardigen drukt de prijs.

Gedurende de openingstijden is steeds een aantal kunstenaars aanwezig om vragen te beantwoorden en uitleg te geven over procedés en de gebruikte technieken.
